Three days in and many readers are finding themselves adjusting very well to the new opening and theme music for The OnLine Network’s “All My Children,” titled “We Are the Love We Give” by Imaginary Friend. With the ABC version of “One Life to Live” now a thing of the past, and with it airing only 9 episodes during the 2012 eligibility year, one would think that the show would not have received any Daytime Emmy Award love. While the show only received 3 nominations for its ABC incarnation, 3 noms is just great.
As previously reported, the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards were announced earlier today on “Good Morning America.” While not all categories were released during the ABC broadcast, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has since revealed that CBS leads all broadcast and cable networks with a total of 50 nominations in multiple categories with PBS in second place with 44 and ABC third with 38.
CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” has received a total of 15 Daytime Entertainment Emmy Award nominations during calendar year 2012. With Susan Flannery departing the series after more than 25 years portraying matriarch Stephanie Forrester on the soap, the actress received her final nomination in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Meanwhile, former co-star Katherine Kelly Lang received her first nomination in the 26 years she’s portrayed Brooke Logan on the world’s most popular daily drama series.
With the re-launches of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” fans all across North America are once again enjoying their daily fix of Pine Valley and Llanview. They’re not alone it seems as pop music senstations Enrique Iglesias and The Backstreet Boys have thrown their support behind the re-incarnated soaps as well.

After months of anticipation, the day has finally arrived for the returns of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” Both soaps premiered today with brand new episodes via Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes. As previously reported, the two soaps have been getting some love from Hulu starting with an email campaign on Friday and a weekend trip on the Hulu bar, which highlights several recent episodes of popular series airing on Hulu. Today, Hulu gave each series their own spot on the bar with positions #1 and #2, ahead of such staples as ABC’s “Revenge” and “Once Upon A Time” or FOX’s “Family Guy” and “American Dad.”
In a new posting on his Facebook page, Michael Easton (ex-John McBain, “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital”) says, “SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS…to my family of friends in their new venture. I know you’re going to be a big hit…” The actors comments are understood to be in reference to the re-launches of both “OLTL” and “All My Children,” which premiere today on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes.
According to a report in The New York Times, highlighting tomorrow’s launch of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” via Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes, the gold standard publication revealed that Prospect Park, the company behind the new “AMC” and “OLTL,” also holds the licensing rights to “General Hospital” in the event ABC decides to cancel the soap too!
Robert S. Woods has portrayed the contract role of Bo Buchanan on ABC’s “One Life to Live” off and on for more than 30 years. Just a few months before the soap went off the air in January 2012, Woods joined several cast members in signing up for the Prospect Park version of the series, which was to pick up right where the ABC run ended mere days earlier. While things didn’t materialize the way they were supposed to back then, Woods admits he’s having fun now. “So far the scenes we’ve done are really fun. They’re like the scenes we did early on that kind of endeared the characters to people because they like to watch them have fun,” says the actor of scenes he’s shared with onscreen love interest Hillary B. Smith’s and her character Nora Buchanan.
When “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” debut with brand new episodes on Monday, April 29 on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes, they will have the full support of CBS Daytime. Angelica McDaniel, Senior Vice President, CBS Daytime, wishes Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz, whose Prospect Park licensed the two soaps from ABC in 2011, nothing but the best. She relays via Soap Opera Network, “Congratulations and best of luck on the success. Your success is our success and vice versa. And it’s just a thrilling new experience and I look forward to seeing where the journey takes you.”
“Due to unforeseen circumstances the Jacksonville, Nashville and Cleveland shows have been cancelled. Refunds are available at the point of purchase,” is the message posted on the official website of A Tribute to Pine Valley, which has held events around the country honoring the 41 year life and history of ABC’s “All My Children.”
Michael Muhney has announced on Twitter that’s he’s signed a new contract with CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” that will keep him in Genoa City as his character, Adam Newman, through at least June 2015. In a tweet to his more than 50,000 followers the actor commented, “Lots of ‘Adam’ to come. #gameON.”
On Monday, April 29, “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” debut with all new episodes on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes. As part of its promotional campaign, which included an email alert to millions of Hulu Plus subscribers yesterday, Hulu has given both soaps the infamous Hulu bar treatment with a link to the “They’re Back” video highlighting that each show is “Back & Better Than Ever.”
Earlier today, millions of Hulu Plus subscribers received an email from Hulu promoting the returns of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” In the email, subscribers were provided with a link to the trailer highlighting the stars while at the beautiful photo shoot in Sleepy Hollow, NY earlier this year. Touted as “hulu exclusive series,” “AMC” and “OLTL” premieres Monday, April 29 on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes.
An ABC representative has confirmed to Soap Opera Network that Maura West (ex-Carly Snyder, “As The World Turns”; ex-Diane Jenkins, “The Young and the Restless”) is joining the cast of “General Hospital” as Ava Jerome. West is scheduled to debut during the week of May 6, which promises viewers will see “tons of exciting things happening that week.”
Last night at the Z100 relaunch party celebrating the returns of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” at the iHeart Radio Theater, fans were treated to a Q&A session and meet and greet with “AMC’s” Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater) and Cady McClain (Dixie Cooney) as well as “OLTL’s” Melissa Archer (Natalie Buchanan), Corbin Bleu (Jeffrey King) and Erika Slezak (Victoria Lord).
A character proclaims, “Pine Valley lost a part of its soul that night, but today the sun shines bright.” That day in particular is Monday, April 29, when “All My Children” premieres with all new episodes via Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes with Pine Valley’s citizens having picked things up five years after that traumatic night Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Brooke English (Julia Barr) celebrated their engagement and a shot went off. Fans will quickly be able to jump right back into the soap where “cute, sexy, action and adventure, romance and sex” may be a simple way to summarize the storytelling on any given daytime soap, but on “AMC” things are just all the better.
