The OnLine Network has announced that Matthew Cowles is returning to “All My Children” as his now undead character, Billy Clyde Tuggle, who resurfaces to cause some trouble as the owner of an escort service. The actor, who debuts on Thursday, May 16, will play a role in helping find Cassandra Foster, Angie and Jesse Hubbard’s (Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams) daughter, who was recently kidnapped as part of a sex trafficking ring. The character will also interact with Dixie Martin (Cady McClain), who fans will recall Billy Clyde was trying to get to marry him before he plunged to his “death” more than 20 years ago.

It is with great sadness to report that Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, “The Young and the Restless”) has died. The 84-year old actress, who has been in and out of the hospital in recent weeks, died this morning in her hospital bed with her daughter by her side.
With the returns of Roger Howarth, Kristen Alderson and Michael Easton (as new characters whose names are currently unconfirmed by ABC, although at present we’re hearing the character name “Jordan” for Alderson) to the Port Charles canvas and the debut of Maura West as Ava Jerome (first airdate scheduled for Wednesday, May 8), the drama is only getting hotter on ABC’s “General Hospital” this week.

So how did he get out and get some Shelter at Blair Cramer’s (Kassie DePaiva) new nightclub? “You mean in a TV show people can’t come back from things worse than jail?” jokingly said Cutter’s portrayer, Josh Kelly, during a recent interview with Soap Opera Network. “A lot of people get out of prison, and on a TV show it can happen even easier. People come back from the dead!” the actor noted.
The OnLine Network has confirmed the casting of Brooke Newton as Colby Chandler on “All My Children.” SON Insider watchers will have noted in our ON THE RED CARPET feature covering the premiere of “AMC” at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts two weeks ago that Newton had been cast in the contract role of Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Liza Colby’s (last played by Jamie Luner) “spoiled entitled daughter,” per a description released by TOLN. Newton takes over the role previously played by Natalie Hall on the ABC incarnation and first airs on Thursday, May 16.

With posts on Facebook, Cooper’s son, Corbin Bernsen, has been keeping friends and fans all around the world up-to-date on his mom’s current condition and things aren’t looking good. The actor said in one of his recent postings, “Please know that I’m not saying my mother’s life has ended, it hasn’t, but no matter how you slice it, she is in the final stages, whether it lasts an hour, day, month or years. I had to say ‘goodbye’ to her tonight ‘just in case’ as I’m traveling tomorrow to Vancouver for ‘Psych.'”
On Wednesday, May 1, Daniel Goddard announced that he’ll be appearing in an upcoming episode of CBS’ “The Price is Right.” The actor, who portrays Cane Ashby on “The Young and the Restless,” said in a tweet, “Taping #TPIR today with Gwen, Manuela and Amber .. #ChicksWithAttitude #CWA @CBSdaytime @official_yandr.” The tweet was accompanied by a link to a post on his Facebook page, which showed the beautiful ladies on the set of “TPIR” while they weren’t filming.

Daytime newcomer Casey Moss has joined the cast of NBC’s “Days of our Lives,” per a tweet by Salem newbie Jen Lilley. In her tweet, the actress said, “Oh snap! My hott co-star joined Twitter! Be sure to follow @1CaseyMoss and watch his first episode of #Days Friday!” The tweet was accompanied by an image of the two in the “DAYS” hair and makeup room hugging. Moss thanked Lilley with a tweet back that said, “Thanks Jen! I appreciate it!”
“Another World” and “Sunset Beach” were canceled in 1999, “Port Charles” in 2003, and “Passions” in 2007 (NBC version) and again in 2008 (DirecTV version). In 2009, “Guiding Light” got turned off and in 2010 “As The World Turns” just stopped. 2011 then brought the double cancellations of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” As a result of 8 soap operas being cancelled within a 12 year span, one would have expected 2012 to end with another soap saying goodbye. Thankfully, the year came and went without a single soap cancellation for the first time in five years. Now with the 2013 resurrection of “AMC” and “OLTL,” soaps are no longer “dying” and the genre is finally thriving once more. But, if you’re like us, you never forget your soap opera history. Enter “Soap Life,” a documentary that follows the rise and fall of American soap operas before the genres recent re-birth.
“It’s such a great opportunity for people to see how good these actors can be and that the genre isn’t a silly little genre.
