CBS is once again searching for its next male model for “The Price is Right.”
Fans of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless” are very vocal online and social media talking about wanting to see more of the veteran characters and actors of their favorite soap after claims that more attention is being given to the new actors and/or characters, but could they handle an entirely new cast of actors and the introduction of new characters all in one fell swoop? That’s what fans of the South African based SABC soap “Generations,” not to be confused with NBC’s “Generations,” will have to get used to. The show has fired its entire cast after they all refused to return to the Johannesburg studio, where the show is filmed, following demands of better pay, reports BBC News.
Long before he was Billy Abbott on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless,” actor Burgess Jenkins starred in and co-produced the faith based family film “Hero,” which is finally getting released on DVD on Tuesday, September 16 online and in Walmart stores everywhere.
When he’s not appearing on ABC’s “Nashville,” former “General Hospital” star Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer) is working on music for the upcoming release of his new album with band Enation, whose members include Jackson’s real-life brother, Richard Lee, and Daniel Sweatt. The album, “Radio Cinematic,” is set for release on Tuesday, October 14 via Loud and Proud Records. Late last week the band shared the album cover art on social media. Greg Archilla and Patrick Dillett co-produced the album. Songs from “Radio Cinematic” include first single “Everything is Possible,” which the band performed on “The View” and “The Better Show”…
If you ever thought that “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer) had a James Bond type style about him, but couldn’t figure out why, the actor donned an elegant suit with a martini glass and cigar in hand after being challenged by friends and “B&B” co-star Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer) for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which definitely explains things.
For weeks gossip sites and celebrity magazines have been left wondering if former “Guiding Light” star Hayden Panettiere was indeed pregnant after pictures of the “Nashville” actress surfaced with what would appear to be a baby bump. As part of the social phenomenon known as the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Panettiere put those pregnancy rumors to rest while challenging her unborn child to take part.
As they celebrated their first anniversary as hosts of “Soap Box with Lilly & Martha” on Thursday, August 21, former daytime soap stars Lilly Melgar (“General Hospital”) and Martha Madison (“Days of our Lives”) had soap journalist Michael Maloney, talent manager Michael Bruno and online soap reporter Michael Fairman on as guests as they discussed the week’s biggest soap opera news. No story was bigger this past week than the news of Justin Hartley (“Passions,” “Revenge,” “Mistresses”) returning to daytime television to portray a recast Adam Newman on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.” According to Bruno, however, there was a chance that the role could have gone to Hartley’s former “Smallville” co-star Tom Welling, “Sex and the City’s” Jason Lewis or “Queer as Folk’s'” Gale Harold.
On Sundays all-new edition of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, the show provides an update on the status of former “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” star Jack Wagner. He’s had starring roles on “All My Children,” “As The World Turns,” “Guiding Light” and currently “Days of our Lives” as Aiden Jennings, but despite his long soap career as a serious actor you’d be surprised to learn what hidden talent Daniel Cosgrove keeps close to the vest. In a recent visit to the Burbank Studios, where “DAYS” is filmed, Soap Opera Network was given an exclusive and rare opportunity of witnessing Cosgrove beatboxing. Yes, you read that right.

On the Thursday, August 21 episode of ABC’s “General Hospital,” Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo) returned from her long trip away from Port Charles after looking to clear her head following the death of her son, Gabriel, with Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson). Upon her return, Sabrina is shocked to learn that for much of the time she had been gone Patrick knew who ran them off the road and caused their son’s death. She also learns that her best friend Felix Dubois (Marc Anthony Samuel) knew as well. Neither Patrick or Felix opted to call her to tell her because they feared what it would do to her mental state, as noted by Castillo in Soap Opera Network’s recent interview with the actress.
As previously reported, former game show host Bob Barker is returning to CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” on Thursday, August 28. The episode finds Barker once again playing a version of himself when he goes to check up on new pal Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). The friendly visit, however, goes south when an argument between Barker and Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) ensues following Wyatt’s choice words about animal lovers. Having enough of Wyatt’s antics, Barker unleashes the smackdown on his candy you know what. The scene is reminiscent of Barker’s classic fight scene from the 1996 Adam Sandler film, “Happy Gilmore.” Following a flurry of punches, Wyatt falls to the ground and begins to roll down a hill, where he lands face-down in a puddle of mud.
In 2012, Soap Opera Network published our own version of the annual TV Guide Magazine “TV’s Highest Paid Stars” issue. In the time since it was published we’ve been quite shocked to see how many of you were curious to know how much some of daytime and primetime’s biggest and brightest stars of yesteryear have gone on to make with their current work in primetime dramas and comedies, reality shows, and even daytime talk shows. Although we were unable to continue our report in 2013 due to circumstances beyond our control, we thought it would be a great opportunity to continue producing the soap opera edition of one of TV Guide’s best selling issues with the release of the 2014 edition.
Denise Vasi played Randi Hubbard on the ABC version of “All My Children” from 2008-2011, but she’s probably best known for her current portrayal of Raquel Lancaster in the VH1/Centric soap, “Single Ladies,” although her latest endeavor is likely one she’ll cherish over all.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Harpo’s Oprah Winfrey have already done it and so have a cruise ship load of daytime soap stars past and present, which now includes real-life best friends Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, “The Young and the Restless”) and Chrishell Stause (Jordan, “Days of our Lives”), who were challenged by Egan’s mother, Mary. They weren’t alone! Also taking part was “Y&R’s” newest star, and Stause’s real-life boyfriend, Justin Hartley (Adam Newman).
