“ABC’s commitment to reinventing their popular franchise, ‘The View,’ and evolving the talk show creatively is underway and it’s all building to the much-anticipated season premiere on Monday, September 15,” was the beginning of a bold statement this morning from ABC that highlights several major changes in store for the original forum for lively conversations generated from entertainment, social media, politics, family, sex and relationships as well as beauty and fashion. Such changes include the show moving from its longtime West 66th Street studio to the ABC Broadcast Center on 67th Street near Central Park along with a new color scheme and logo, marking the first time in the show’s history that it has changed significantly.. Per the network, the new studio will now house a visually stunning, contemporary state-of-the-art set designed in the round and offering the addition of an on-camera social media station allowing the hosts to interact in real time with viewers.

In a clip that aired during the Monday, August 18 broadcast of KABC’s “Eyewitness News” at 4:00 PM, reporter George Pennacchio noted time slot changes taking place on the ABC Owned Television (OTV) station beginning Monday, September 8, which finds “General Hospital” returning to its original 25+ year time period of 2:00 PM on the station.
In late January, MTV gave a series order to its pilot “Finding Carter,” which follows a teenage girl named Carter (Kathryn Prescott) who discovers that the woman who has been raising her isn’t actually her mother at all. With the pick up, actress Cynthia Watros was forced to vacate the role of “The Young and the Restless'” Kelly Andrews, a role currently portrayed by Cady McClain (ex-Dixie Martin, “All My Children”), as the filming schedule would have conflicted with that of the CBS daytime drama series – “Carter” films in Georgia while “Y&R” films in California. Thankfully, Watros’ decision has paid off. The network announced today that it has picked up the series for a second season that will consist of 12 all-new episodes like it did during its first season. In the series, Watros portrays Carter’s biological mother who seeks to reacquaint herself with her daughter.
She may have helped create one of the most popular and socially engaging television programs on the air today with Lifetime’s “Devious Maids,” but that doesn’t mean fans of former “Desperate Housewives” and “The Young and the Restless” actress and entrepreneur Eva Longoria have seen the last of her in front of the camera. FOX announced earlier this evening that Longoria will guest-star for a three-episode arc on the second season of its Golden Globe award winning comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which co-stars former “One Life to Live” actress Melissa Fumero (ex-Adriana Cramer) as Detective Amy Santiago.

He’s been prancing around Genoa City only showing his hands to viewers, while the rest of the town thinks he’s dead, but Adam Newman is most certainly returning to CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” in the coming months with a new face after supposedly dying in a fiery explosion in late January as played by actor Michael Muhney. TV Guide’s Michael Logan is reporting that “Smallville” and “Revenge” star Justin Hartley is returning to daytime television to assume the role of the devilish Adam just in time for the all important November sweeps ratings period. Hartley, who will report to the CBS Television Center studio where “Y&R” is filmed in late September, previously portrayed the role of Fox Crane on NBC’s “Passions” from 2002 to 2006.
It’s been over 10 years since we last saw Grace Turner on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” as played by “The Bold and the Beautiful” star Jennifer Gareis, but anyone who saw the promo highlighting this week’s worth of shows where Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) said to a mystery blonde, “It’s good to see you,” just before she makes sexual advances on him, could tell the woman in question was someone he had intimate knowledge of and not some random new character. In fact, with Grace being in revealing clothing so much during her tenure on the soap back in the day, anyone could recognize Gareis solely based on body and hair style (yes, Grace had plenty of fun with several of Genoa City’s hottest men).
If you’ve been following “Under the Dome” throughout its second season, you’ll recall that beginning in episode 3, a young mystery man named Hunter had been communicating with Norrie (Mackenzie Lintz) and Joe (Colin Ford) via internet messages. In tonight’s episode we get our first glimpse of Hunter as played by “The Young and the Restless'” Max Ehrich (Fermore Baldwin). Seven of the eight ABC Owned and Operated (O&O) television stations will be returning “General Hospital” back to its 3:00 PM ET/2:00 PM PT slot beginning Monday, September 8, the network confirmed today. Those stations include WABC in New York, KABC in Los Angeles, WLS in Chicago, WPVI in Philadelphia, KGO in San Francisco, KTRK in Houston, WTVD in Raleigh-Durham and KSAT in San Antonio, which is the sole non-ABC O&O station making the change.
Best known to soap fans for his role as Hank Bennett on NBC’s “Passions,” actor Ryan McPartlin has signed on for an arc on NBC’s “Bad Judge,” reports Deadline Hollywood. Per the publication, McPartlin will appear opposite series star Kate Walsh in the single-camera comedy series as Billy the Fireman, a love interest for Walsh’s character, Rebecca. While the series is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, October 2 at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM CT, there is no set airdate for McPartlin’s appearance on the series.
Best known for his stints on CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and NBC’s “Days of our Lives,” actor Brandon Beemer is set to star in the Hallmark Movie Channel original movie, “Wedding Planner Mystery,” which premieres tonight at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM CT. The film tells the story of Carnegie Kincaid, a young wedding planner who is framed for a crime and struggles to clear her name as she learns that love does not always arrive in a pretty package. The role of the wedding planner is played by Erica Durance, who is best known for her seven-year stint as Lois Lane on The WB/CW drama series, “Smallville.” Beemer plays Holt Walker, a mystery man that may have something to do with the crime Carnegie’s being framed for. This, however, does not deter her from falling for Holt.
While Investigation Discovery has signed on several daytime soap stars for hosting duties as part of its daytime soap block beginning Monday, August 25, the network is featuring ’80s and ’90s primetime stars in its new Wednesday night original series, “Heartbreakers,” which follows hunky Hollywood actors from both eras reunite on screen to portray real-life dreamboats who turned into total nightmares as shown in sensational, Aaron Spelling-esque style reminiscent of classic primetime soaps. The series takes true stories ripped from the headlines to show what really happens when the perfect catch turns out to be the perfect criminal.
The governing Board of Trustees of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) earlier this week announced the election of Charles (Chuck) L. Dages as its new Chairman of the Board. Dages was previously Executive Vice President, Emerging Technology, for Warner Bros., a position he held for nearly twenty years. As part of his job at NATAS, Dages will work in conjunction with the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees on all major programming, sponsorship and marketing of the non-profit organization and securing its mandate of recognizing excellence in the television and media industry.
In conjunction with the new season launch of “Deadly Affairs” starring Susan Lucci (“All My Children,” “Devious Maids”) on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 PM ET/9:00 PM CT, Investigation Discovery has announced the return of its daytime soap block hosted by several adored past and present soap stars. The block consists of encore episodes of some of the network’s most scandalous series, such as “Wives with Knives,” “My Dirty Little Secret,” “Scorned: Love Kills” and “Evil Twins.” Taking in the soap block as hosts are “General Hospital’s” Lynn Herring and Kin Shriner, “Days of our Lives’” Mary Beth Evans and Wally Kurth, Lamon Archey from “The Young and the Restless,” Darnell Williams from “All My Children” and telenovela actress Katie Barberi (“Dona Barbara”). The block kicks off Monday, August 25 with “Sinful Secrets Week.”
