Deadline is reporting that former “Days of our Lives” star Matt Cedeno (ex-Brandon Walker) has landed a recurring role on Lifetime’s “Devious Maids,” which stars Susan Lucci (“All My Children”), Ana Ortiz (“Ugly Betty”), Roselyn Sanchez (“Without a Trace”), Grant Show (“Melrose Place”) and Brianna Brown (“General Hospital”). Cedeno is said to be featured in the tweaked pilot, which was originally conceived as a possible series for ABC during last seasons development cycle, and will likely be upped to series regular if the show is picked up by Lifetime for a second season. Cedeno will play the role of Alejandro Reyes, “a successful recording artist. Back home after three long months on tour, Alejandro wants to lounge by the pool – while behind his back, Odessa and the new maid Carmen are maneuvering themselves for Total War.”

Stephen Colbert is a news junkie, but he’s also a soap fan as evidenced by numerous skits and jokes he makes in reference to them. The recent sex scandal plaguing Washington, D.C. is no different as the host of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” told the tale of the soap opera that is “General’s Hospital,” referencing the ABC soap “General Hospital” in name and even logo. With a cameo appearance by “All My Children” star Susan Lucci, the skit will likely soon become legen – wait for it – dary, in the words of “How I Met Your Mother’s” Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).

Investigation Discovery, which recently announced its plans to integrate several daytime stars into various aspects of its daytime programming block in the coming weeks, has released the first promos and trailers of “Deadly Affairs,” the new series about love triangles gone wrong and marriages that end in murder hosted by “All My Children” vixen Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane).

Walking in on your beau bedding your best friend… Halting your wedding because your evil twin stole your spot at the altar… Discovering that your mortal enemy is really your long-lost sibling. These may seem like the plotlines of a delicious daytime soap, but sensational stories are anything but fiction on Investigation Discovery. Dishing out the drama of blindsided betrayals, mistaken identities, and deadly deceptions, ID is staking its claim on real-life soap operas with the launch of daytime programming block DAYS OF OUR KNIVES on Monday, August 20 from 1-4 PM E/P.

From love triangles that implode to office romances exposed, stories of passionate love affairs turned crimes of passion aren’t just happening on daytime television. They happen in real life and, sometimes, are even stranger than fiction. No stranger to steamy scandals and deadly dalliances, Emmy Award-winning actress and queen of daytime soap Susan Lucci hosts DEADLY AFFAIRS, premiering Saturday, September 8 at 10 PM E/T on Investigation Discovery.

While she holds out great hope for the future of daytime television, the former first lady of the genre, Susan Lucci, is currently busy adding another notch to her full resume. Beginning this fall, fans can see the legend and former star of “All My Children” hosting and narrating a new series, titled “Deadly Affairs,” for the cable network Investigation Discovery.

On Monday afternoon, Vincent Irizarry learned of Jamey Giddens (of Daytime Confidential) rather strong implication on Twitter that [Irizarry’s] lack of cooperation along with Agnes Nixon and Lorraine Broderick’s “story projections” were a major reason production company Prospect Park decided to reportedly halt early production efforts to move “All My Children” to the internet. Read on to find out how the none too pleased Daytime Emmy Award winner responded to the claim on Facebook on Monday evening.

With an amazing spirit that shines from the inside out and a very quick learning curve, Iraq war veteran and motivational speaker J.R. Martinez wasted little time winning over legions of “All My Children” fans after joining the cast of the popular daytime drama in November of 2008. The fearless 28-year old has gone on to win over the hearts of millions more since joining the cast of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Along with soaring to the top of the leaderboard on the popular dance show, the actor has emerged as arguably the most popular star of the 13th season and a role model to many who may have never heard of him before.

Prospect Park decides to move forward with plans for “One Life to Live,” while delaying the launch of “All My Children” for the time being. But why the sudden change of plans?

There has been much discussed about “All My Children” 2.0 following a report by Soaps in Depth in which the magazine reported on its website that “All My Children,” as conceived by the minds behind the scenes at Prospect Park, has been placed on hold. This of course is after months of rumors and speculation stating that the company had planned to launch the show just days following its September 23 ABC finale and again in January 2012 following the network finale of sister soap “One Life to Live,” which in addition to “AMC” was licensed to Prospect Park for its Online Network (TOLN) in a deal brokered with the Disney/ABC Television Group back in July of this year. But is this really news to the fans or were we all just hoping something else was going on behind the scenes that would suddenly pace the show on the same trek as “OLTL?”

“All My Children” ended its television run on Friday, September 23, 2011, but pop-culture artist David O’Keefe has captured the essence of what made the soap opera special to millions of viewers for more than 41-years courtesy of his new painting “A Tribute to ‘All My Children’ – Pine Valley,” which took two months from concept to fruition.

TV Line revealed today that Susan Lucci has landed a gig on “Army Wives” which airs on the Lifetime cable network. The popular series stars Lucci’s former “All My Children” co-star Kim Delaney. For at least two episodes of the sixth season of the series, which will begin airing in the spring of 2012, the daytime legend will be playing a former Army wife and a new confidante of sorts for Delaney’s character, Claudia.

Sometimes you can’t be two places at once. Thankfully, there are people willing to lend a hand. Professional photographer and sometimes writer Thomas Montalto was on hand for the annual Absolute Eden Riegel fan event last month and helped Soap Opera Network cover the event with pictures (see below) and even an interview. Unfortunately, just after this interview took place we would learn that Riegel was being let go from her contract role as Heather Stevens on “The Young and the Restless” before the actress was even told! Twitter broke the story to the actress before she was told by her bosses. In light of the actress completing filming at the CBS soap on Thursday, September 29, Soap Opera Network presents to you one of Riegel’s last interviews before she marks her grand exit from Genoa City in the coming weeks.

Each week Entertainment Weekly puts together “The Bullseye,” a gathering of images in which “pop culture news that was right on target” for the week comes together leading to the “events that missed the mark.” For its October 7, 2011 issue, the magazine placed a “Bullseye” on “The Chew’s” Mario Batali.

This week has been full of well deserved tributes, accolades and goodbyes to a 41-year old television institution, “All My Children.” Lost in the avalanche of interviews with the actors who have contributed their talents to the popular soap opera may have been several of the shows most popular actors sharing if they have been asked to follow it to the internet and if they’re willing to. The production company that has licensed their soap opera, Prospect Park, has recently stepped up talks with “AMC’s” cast members locking in deals with Cameron Mathison (Ryan) and Lindsay Hartley (Cara). Where do “AMC’s” other popular stars, including their biggest star Susan Lucci (Erica), stand on moving to the net? Continue reading to find out.

Susan Lucci has portrayed Erica Kane for 41-years – debuting during the shows 10 episode in January 1970 according to her book “All My Life,” and along with millions of viewers across the country she watched the soap that launched her career end its run on ABC earlier this afternoon. Ever the relevant personality (despite what ABC says), Lucci shares her thoughts with her Facebook friends and followers on the final episode of “AMC” and gives some minor hope as to what lies ahead for the soap opera in the coming months.

After 41 years on television (41 on ABC and 11 on ABC and SOAPnet), “All My Children” has closed its final chapter in broadcast television history with an ending that may please many or anger a lot, but its ending did one thing that was impossible for a soap to accomplish just a few short years ago – tracking the reactions of viewers as it came to a close.
