Aired from 1968-2012 on ABC

On the Monday, September 29 season premiere episode of ABC’s “Castle,” “General Hospital” star Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins) will guest star as FBI Agent Connors, who helps Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) try to solve the toughest case of her career following her much-anticipated nuptials to Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion; ex-Joey Buchanan, “One Life to Live”) that resulted in an ominous black SUV driving him off the road in the season finale before he could see his blushing bride.

On the Wednesday, October 1 episode of NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” entitled “American Disgrace,” former “One Life to Live” star Kelley Missal (ex-Dani Manning) will appear as an alleged rape victim of pro basketball star Shakir “The Shark” Wilkins (guest star Henry Simmons; “NYPD Blue,” “Another World”). In the episode, Orion press rep Carla Cannon (Missal) tells reporters she was raped by Wilkins. When more women come forward, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Detective Carisi (guest star Peter Scanavino) disagree on the authenticity of each woman’s story, and Barba (Raul Esparza) takes a shaky case to court.

“The Young and the Restless” has cemented its spot as the number one daytime drama for the past 25 years with a record of outstanding decisions, and the sudser’s latest flawless move was the addition of Emmy-winning actress Gina Tognoni, who took over the role of Phyllis Summers (previously portrayed by Michelle Stafford, Nina Clay, “General Hospital”) this year. The Missouri native showed off her serious acting chops as “Guiding Light’s” Dinah Marler and “One Life to Live’s” Kelly Cramer, and now that Phyllis is finally out of her lengthy coma and headed back to Genoa City starting this week, Tognoni will be giving soap fans yet another dose of her powerhouse skills — but this time, as the feisty GC diva “Y&R” fans have loved since she hit the scene back in 1994!

Cape May Stage Equity Theater Company is putting on a production of the Pulitzer Prize winning play “Other Desert Cities” with a super soapy twist: former “Guiding Light” actor Robert Newman (ex-Joshua Lewis; Richard, “Venice”) will be performing in the show, which is being directed by former “Days of our Lives,” “One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light” director Roy Steinberg!

When Soap Opera Network recently caught up with “One Life to Live’s” David Fumero (ex-Christian Vega), he revealed that he’s been the putting the pedal to the metal in his race to find primetime success, and it looks like his hard work has finally paid off: He’s been cast as a series regular on Starz’ drama series, “Power!”

If Michael Fairman’s recent return as Patrick Murphy on “The Young and the Restless” wasn’t enough for you, you’re in luck: The actor is heading to ABC Family’s “The Fosters” for a special holiday episode!

Time to upgrade your fire extinguishers, because Tyler Perry’s new series for OWN, “If Loving You Is Wrong,” is scorching hot! Not only will the first scenes and beyond have your jaws dropping, the steamy drama also stars former “All My Children” star Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan Devane), former “One Life to Live” star Charles Malik Whitfield (ex-Ben Price), and Joel Rush, who had a short stint as an assistant manager on NBC’s “Days of our Lives!”

Rumors began swirling earlier today that an East coast redhead with another life to live had joined a daytime soap. Turns out the redhead in question is none other than Melissa Archer, formerly of ABC and Prospect Park’s “One Life to Live.” Per Soap Opera Digest, Archer has joined the cast of NBC’s “Days of our Lives” in an as yet to be named role.

Before becoming a highly sought television and film star, Blair Underwood got his acting chops wet with his role as Bobby Blue on ABC’s “One Life to Live” in the mid-1980s. Today, August 25, the actor turns the big 5-0, which makes him an official member of AARP. To celebrate his joining the exclusive club, the magazine has created a special edition mock cover of AARP: The Magazine (shown above).

In 2012, Soap Opera Network published our own version of the annual TV Guide Magazine “TV’s Highest Paid Stars” issue. In the time since it was published we’ve been quite shocked to see how many of you were curious to know how much some of daytime and primetime’s biggest and brightest stars of yesteryear have gone on to make with their current work in primetime dramas and comedies, reality shows, and even daytime talk shows. Although we were unable to continue our report in 2013 due to circumstances beyond our control, we thought it would be a great opportunity to continue producing the soap opera edition of one of TV Guide’s best selling issues with the release of the 2014 edition.

The soap opera world has been abuzz all morning over the big news that “Smallville” and “Mistresses” star Justin Hartley (ex-Fox Crane, “Passions”) has been cast as “The Young and the Restless’” Adam Newman, and it’s not just fans who are voicing their opinions over the casting announcement: The stars of daytime have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the news, which further lays to rest any hope that former portrayer Michael Muhney will return to the popular role. Read on to see what kind of comments are flying around about Hartley’s new gig — including one from Muhney himself!

Hillary B. Smith may best be known for her 20+ year run as “One Life to Live’s” legal eagle, Nora Buchanan, but she’s recently taken on a new role in life: Fashion designer! Soap Opera Network caught up with the busy actress — who also appears on and supervising produces the web series “Venice” — to get the scoop on her new fashion line, as well as her thoughts on what went wrong with “OLTL’s” second run and what she thinks about her former TV home, “The Doctors,” making a return to television!

Former “One Life to Live” stars Kamar de los Reyes (ex-Antonio Vega) and Sherri Saum (ex-Keri Reynolds) have something special to share with the world: The very first public photos of their twin sons, John Rubén and Michael Luís, born on May 13 of this year!

From his early days as a male model to his time as “One Life to Live’s” Christian Vega, David Fumero has always had a smile to die for and heart to kill for. His wife, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Melissa Fumero, fell under his spell while the two were working together on “OLTL” (she as Adriana Cramer), and if you haven’t already fallen for the star as well, you’re about to! Soap Opera Network recently caught up with the actor during a House of Kooser/Ronald McDonald House charity event, where he dished on the importance of giving back, what he’s been up to since leaving the daytime world and what it’s been like to ride along with Melissa’s primetime success. Brace yourself: What he had to say could make the hardest of hearts start swooning!

The marquees of Broadway theaters in New York City went dark for one minute on Friday, July 18th in memory of actress Elaine Stritch (ex-Wilma Bern, “One Life to Live”), who passed away due to natural causes at the age of 89.

Former “One Life to Live” star Amanda Setton (Kimberly Andrews) has been on a slew of shows since departing daytime, including “Gossip Girl,” “The Mindy Project,” and “The Crazy Ones,” and she will now have one more to add to the resume: CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0.”
