During the final minutes of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” the morning show revealed selected nominees for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” which remains without a TV home despite being scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 22 live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. According to David Michaels, Senior Executive Director and Co-Executive Producer of the awards show, however, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences does plan to stream the ceremony online if no TV deal can be made for this year.

Real-life friends Brittany Underwood (ex-Langston Wilde, “One Life to Live”; “Hollywood Heights”) and Kristen Alderson (Kiki Jerome, “General Hospital”) have teamed up with PimpMyPooch.com, the new daily deal site for dogs, by lending their name to help support the company’s IndieGogo crowd funding campaign set to launch on Thursday, May 1. The website is seeking potential backers to help it operate in similar fashion to deal-of-the-day websites such as Living Social and Groupon with deals focused exclusively on products and services for dog owners.

It’s been a long time coming, but the date for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards has officially been set: A spokesperson for the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences confirms that the ceremony will be taking place on Sunday, June 22 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

While Prospect Park’s The OnLine Network (TOLN) failed to re-launch “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” to a brand new audience via the internet last year, Corday Productions, which produces NBC’s “Days of our Lives,” has joined with All Screens Media, an international interactive digital media company founded by former Comcast digital media executive Peter Heumiller, to form a new online network dedicated to the soap opera and telenovela format. Per Variety, the production entities have joined together to form NetSoaps Net Novelas LLC (NSNN), which will strive to develop domestic (Net Soaps) and international (Net Novelas) online soap operas for a new generation of soap fans. Net Soaps will be geared toward American and English speaking audiences while Net Novelas will be targeted toward Latin American and Brazilian audiences.

“Oh, brother!” is an apt description for last night’s episode of “The Tonight Show,” in which former “One Life to Live” star Scott Evans (ex-Oliver Fish) and his older bro, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” star Chris Evans, shared some of their most hilarious childhood memories. Former daytime actor Trevor St. John (ex-Victor Lord Jr./Todd Manning, “One Life to Live”) has been popping up on various television shows since his soap gig ended in 2013, and fans of the Washington native have yet another small screen appearance to look forward to: He’ll be appearing in the Sunday, March 30 episode of CBS’ popular drama, “The Mentalist!”

As we reported yesterday, Prospect Park Networks — the company behind the online re-launch of soaps “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” — has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. And as news of the latest PPN vs. ABC twist spread, further details were revealed: The production company reportedly owes ABC $1.7 million, and it also owes some big name actors large sums of money, as well!

Deborah Blackwell, the former general manager of Disney/ABC Cable Network Group’s SOAPnet from 2001-2007, has died at the age of 63, reports Deadline Hollywood. She died yesterday, January 31, after a seven-year battle with Pick’s disease, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. Blackwell was surrounded by family in Virginia at the time of her passing.

It’s official: “Days of Our Lives” is the winner of Parade Magazine’s “Soap Opera Showdown!” As we reported yesterday, Parade held a four-round tournament this week where fans could vote for their favorite soap opera to advance to the next round. “DAYS” defeated “Love of Life,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and “Guiding Light” to advance to the finals yesterday.

Earlier this week Parade Magazine announced a tournament to determine the greatest soap opera of all time. According to Parade, “We need your help to crown the greatest daytime drama ever with a four-round tournament.” In this “Soap Opera Showdown,” fans are able to vote for their favorite soap to advance to the next round.
