If you’ve ever tuned into NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” and wondered what life is like for the contestants following their grueling experience, former “As The World Turns” actress Martha Byrne (ex-Lily Snyder) along with writer Daryn Strauss have come together for a new series that hopes to give you the answers you crave. In “Weight: The Series,” Byrne portrays the role of Claire Carlson, a mom who loses 100 pounds on a reality show and then has to contend with the absurd and complicated reactions of her friends and family as she attempts to balance the day to day pressures of staying thin and appearing on reality TV. If the description sounds interesting to you, you might be interested in attending a VIP Soap Party and Advanced Screening of the pilot alongside several of daytime’s biggest and brightest stars!

“The Young and the Restless” has cemented its spot as the number one daytime drama for the past 25 years with a record of outstanding decisions, and the sudser’s latest flawless move was the addition of Emmy-winning actress Gina Tognoni, who took over the role of Phyllis Summers (previously portrayed by Michelle Stafford, Nina Clay, “General Hospital”) this year. The Missouri native showed off her serious acting chops as “Guiding Light’s” Dinah Marler and “One Life to Live’s” Kelly Cramer, and now that Phyllis is finally out of her lengthy coma and headed back to Genoa City starting this week, Tognoni will be giving soap fans yet another dose of her powerhouse skills — but this time, as the feisty GC diva “Y&R” fans have loved since she hit the scene back in 1994!

CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” is getting a new head writer in the form of Charles ‘Chuck’ Pratt, Jr., who is best known for his writing stints at “All My Children,” “General Hospital” and “Santa Barbara.” The news was first reported by Highlight Hollywood. Thanks to the power of social media, Pratt has already updated his Twitter profile to reflect his writing duties at “Y&R” while also indicating he will receive an executive producer credit.

Although the network and Sony Pictures Television, producers of the series, have yet to issue comment on the matter, Daytime Confidential is reporting that Pratt will lead the writing team of daytime’s number one drama series beginning in November.

Fall may be fast approaching, but there’s no need to worry about getting cold: “Days of our Lives” is keeping it hot with an exciting story involving new resident Ben Rogers! If you tuned into the new OWN/Tyler Perry series, “If Loving You Is Wrong,” during its premiere Tuesday night, then you’re all too aware that the steamy drama series is nearly too hot to handle! Scandalous sex scenes, drugs, affairs, love, families and friendship are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the topics offered on the show, which ended up being the most-watched series premiere in OWN history! Since former “All My Children” star Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan Devane) is smack dab in the middle of the excitement as the stuffy-yet-lovable character Brad, Soap Opera Network met with him to get the lowdown on working with creator/writer/director Tyler Perry, his embarrassing first meeting with Oprah Winfrey and what lies ahead for Brad on the sizzling series!

Time to upgrade your fire extinguishers, because Tyler Perry’s new series for OWN, “If Loving You Is Wrong,” is scorching hot! Not only will the first scenes and beyond have your jaws dropping, the steamy drama also stars former “All My Children” star Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan Devane), former “One Life to Live” star Charles Malik Whitfield (ex-Ben Price), and Joel Rush, who had a short stint as an assistant manager on NBC’s “Days of our Lives!”

The chemistry between “Days of our Lives’” Hope and Aiden started out as a slow burn, but its since built into an inferno of flames searing through television sets across America. Never one to miss a hot story, Soap Opera Network sat down with portrayers Kristian Alfonso and Daniel Cosgrove, who opened up about the storyline and their real-life professional connection in their first joint interview ever! Season 19 of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” will be hot, hot, hot! This season’s cast was announced today, and in addition to the many well-known celebs putting their hat in the ring for the popular mirror ball award are two former soap stars who will be hitting the dance floor, as well!

Last week “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini revealed that there will be plenty of villains hanging around the denizens of Port Charles this fall and he wasn’t kidding. While a show rep issued a “no comment” when contacted by Soap Opera Network, actress Robin Mattson announced on her Facebook page yesterday that she is returning to the daytime soap as Heather Webber in the near future. “Heather is returning to GH soon!” read Mattson’s Facebook posting. Fans last saw Heather in February, when she was carted off to jail.

“Days of our Lives’” Kate (Lauren Koslow) wasn’t the only one who was shocked when Jordan (Chrishell Stause) hauled back and slapped her across the face for sleeping with Rafe (Galen Gering): Viewers were a bit surprised to see the formerly timid physical therapist continue to grow her backbone, as well. And when Soap Opera Network recently caught up with Stause, she revealed that this is only the beginning of her alter ego’s catty side. In fact, Jordan will be getting tougher and tougher as more and more secrets about her unfold!

In 2012, Soap Opera Network published our own version of the annual TV Guide Magazine “TV’s Highest Paid Stars” issue. In the time since it was published we’ve been quite shocked to see how many of you were curious to know how much some of daytime and primetime’s biggest and brightest stars of yesteryear have gone on to make with their current work in primetime dramas and comedies, reality shows, and even daytime talk shows. Although we were unable to continue our report in 2013 due to circumstances beyond our control, we thought it would be a great opportunity to continue producing the soap opera edition of one of TV Guide’s best selling issues with the release of the 2014 edition.

Denise Vasi played Randi Hubbard on the ABC version of “All My Children” from 2008-2011, but she’s probably best known for her current portrayal of Raquel Lancaster in the VH1/Centric soap, “Single Ladies,” although her latest endeavor is likely one she’ll cherish over all.

After being challenged by “The Young and the Restless” co-star Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Newman), Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) has exclusively shared with Soap Opera Network video of himself taking part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which included a surprise appearance by best friend and neighbor, Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee Smythe, “All My Children”).

While Investigation Discovery has signed on several daytime soap stars for hosting duties as part of its daytime soap block beginning Monday, August 25, the network is featuring ’80s and ’90s primetime stars in its new Wednesday night original series, “Heartbreakers,” which follows hunky Hollywood actors from both eras reunite on screen to portray real-life dreamboats who turned into total nightmares as shown in sensational, Aaron Spelling-esque style reminiscent of classic primetime soaps. The series takes true stories ripped from the headlines to show what really happens when the perfect catch turns out to be the perfect criminal.
