Fans “All My Children” and “Days of our Lives” alum Cady McClain can see the actress in the Tony Award-nominated play, “Shirley Valentine,” which is playing now through Sunday, July 2 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse in Cape May, New Jersey. McClain plays the title character.

Written by Willy Russell and directed by Roy Steinberg, “Shirley Valentine,” tells the story of a middle-aged woman who discovers the joys of life and love on a trip to Greece. A beloved classic since its premiere in 1986, the play has been performed worldwide, including on Broadway.

“We are thrilled to have Cady McClain bringing the character of Shirley Valentine to life on our stage,” says Steinberg, Artistic Director of Cape May Stage in a statement. “Her talent and experience make her the perfect choice to portray this complex and engaging character.”

The paper Cape May Star and Wave raves about McClain’s performance, saying, “Cady McClain is masterful in her portrayal not only of Valentine but also of her distant husband, friend, and a half dozen other characters that she introduces the audience to in this not-to-be-missed play.”

Tickets are still available for performances of “Shirley Valentine,” Wednesdays – Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. ET and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. ET, at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse in Cape May, New Jersey. For more information about the play and how to purchase tickets contact the Cape May Stage Box Office by calling (609) 770-8311 or visiting CapeMayStage.org.

On Sunday, June 25, the theater is offering a Pay-What-You-Wish Rush ticket option (cash only) where all available tickets on the day of the performance can be purchased at the box office for whatever price you wish to pay, starting one hour before curtain.

Winner of three Daytime Emmy Awards, McClain is the first woman ever to have received the prestigious award for portraying three different characters in three different daytime dramas. A veteran of stage and the screen, McClain recently appeared in an episode of “Law and Order: SVU,” working alongside Mark Borkowski (“Boardwalk Empire”), Kevin Kane and Ice-T.
