Ratings Report for the Week of April 5-9, 2021

Daytime television ratings for soap operas, game shows and talk shows for the week of April 5-9, 2021, including week-to-week and year-to-year comparisons.

The week of April 5-9, 2021 marks the first week in which we are able to do a week-to-week ratings comparison following the three-week hiatus from early March. Notable changes for this week include “The Young and the Restless” moving up to third place and second place, respectively, in Women 18-49 Rating and Women 25-54 Rating. “The Bold and the Beautiful” also moved up in ranking in W18-49, placing fifth for the week with a solid 0.36 rating. In W25-54, “B&B” had the biggest gain week-to-week jumping to a 0.63 rating from the prior week’s 0.54.

“The View” returned to originals, tying “B&B” in W18-49 with a 0.36 rating and tied “General Hospital” in W25-54 with a 0.56 rating. “Days of our Lives” kept its prior week’s ratings but fell in ranking, tying for 11th place with part one of “Let’s Make a Deal” in W18-49 and falling to 12th place in W25-54. The previous week the show ranked 10th in W18-49 and 11th in W25-54.

What follows is a rundown of how the daytime shows performed during the week of April 5-9, 2021 in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, the primary sales demos that determine advertising rates for daytime television programming.

*Notable Preemptions/Schedule Changes

  • “GMA3: What You Need to Know’s” year-to-year comparison numbers are based on the performance of “Pandemic: What You Need to Know.”
  • “The Talk” aired reruns with the exception of a prerecorded episode that aired on Tuesday, April 6. It’s weekly average is based on the Tuesday airing only.
  • Originals of “The View” aired and this week’s ratings are compared to the prior week’s “View-ALT” ratings, which were not counted in the weekly averages.
  • “Today 3rd Hour” aired for just 51 minutes on Monday, April 5 through Wednesday, April 6, and again on Friday, April 9. The show was coded as “Today Show II – ALT” on Thursday, April 8 when it aired for just 23 minutes and was therefore not get included in the weekly averages. On that day it had a 0.42 in W18-49 Rtg and 0.56 in W25-54 Rtg.
  • “Today with Hoda & Jenna” aired for just 48 minutes on Monday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 7. On Tuesday, April 6 it aired for only 46 minutes and aired for only 47 minutes on Friday, April 9. The show was not rated on Thursday, April 8.
