After just one season as a co-host on “The Talk,” entertainer Marie Osmond will be leaving the CBS daytime chatfest ahead of the show’s 11th season premiere later this month.

First reported by Deadline, Osmond is said to be leaving on good terms and already has projects in the works, including a new show with ViacomCBS, CBS’ parent company.

“Marie is a consummate professional, and we thank her for sharing her personal experiences, insight, as well as incredible talents, with our audience,” said CBS in a statement. “We will miss her humor, kindness and good nature, and wish her much success in her future endeavors.”

Osmond joined “The Talk” in 2019 for the show’s 10th season with much fanfare, replacing creator and executive producer Sara Gilbert. The show’s ratings didn’t appear to get much of a boost, however. In the most recent ratings numbers reported here on Soap Opera Network, “The Talk” was the least-watched daytime broadcast show in Total Viewers, Women 18-34, Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 after seven days of delayed viewing. The show ranked last place out of 13 daytime broadcast programs.

In addition to Osmond, longtime executive producer and showrunner John Redmann is also leaving the series. Redmann had been with the show since its debut in 2010. A replacement for the veteran producer will be announced closer to when the show resumes production later this month.

“One of the highlights of my year at ‘The Talk’ was working with my dear friend John Redmann, and I’m excited to continue our working relationship on several projects we are developing,” said Osmond in a statement. “Also, my husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed and remembered we hadn’t been this alone together since 1982!! So, at this stage of my life, I’m looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all the kids/grandkids.”

In the interim of naming a replacement for Osmond, the show will continue with co-hosts Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, Eve and Carrie Ann Inaba.
