With Sara Gilbert announcing plans to depart CBS’ “The Talk” as a co-host at the end of the show’s current ninth season, many have wondered who would be replacing her. If reports are true, Gilbert can expect to pass the baton on to Marie Osmond (pictured above with “black-ish” star Anthony Anderson) who has appeared on the series on numerous occasions as both guest and guest co-host over the years.

TMZ is reporting that Osmond’s hiring will become official on the Tuesday, May 7 edition of “The Talk.” It’s said that executives believe that when Osmond co-hosts ratings tend to spike and the show, which is averaging just 2.39 million viewers so far this season (most current), could use a jolt if it plans to compete with ABC’s growing “The View.”

While Osmond isn’t expected to formally join the co-hosts until at least the beginning of the show’s 10th season, set to launch in September, Osmond will have to spend her first couple of months traveling from Las Vegas to Los Angeles as she and her brother, Donny, are reaching the end of their long-time Vegas residency at the Flamingo hotel. The two currently do five shows a week meaning she’ll have to rush off from the set of “The Talk” straight to the airport through at least November when their show concludes.

The Osmond siblings co-hosted the aptly titled daytime talk show “Donny & Marie” from 1998-2000.

“The Talk’s” current panel of co-hosts includes Gilbert, Eve, Sheryl Underwood, Sharon Osbourne and Carrie Ann Inaba, who joined the group in January.
