When “The Talk” returns to originals on Wednesday, January 2, after an extended holiday break, it’ll finally have a complete set of permanent co-hosts.

Earlier today, CBS announced that at the start of that day’s broadcast the daily chatfest will formally announce a new host, reportedly “Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Although the network hasn’t formally commented on her hiring as yet, Deadline claims to have received confirmation following a report by sister publication Variety.

Prior to getting the job, Inaba frequently stepped in as a guest co-host during scheduled absences of other panelists, and often since the start of the current TV season. Inaba is said to have closed a deal with the network earlier this month that will find her officially seated at a table that once included Julie Chen, who departed the daytime talk show in September amid numerous allegations of sexual misconduct made against her husband, former CBS chief Les Moonves.

Chen herself championed for Inaba to get the gig. In a taped video announcing her departure from the talk show in September, Chen said of Inaba, “You’d look awful good sitting in that chair, my Asian sister. I’m just saying!” Despite leaving the talk show, Chen remains host of CBS’ “Big Brother.”

Now with Inaba as co-host, “The Talk” panel also includes Eve, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Sara Gilbert, who also serves as creator and executive producer. Past co-hosts include Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, Aisha Tyler, and the aforementioned Chen.

Outside of “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Talk,” Inaba began her American career as one of the original Fly Girl dancers on FOX’s “In Living Color” in the 1990s. She’s also choreographed on shows such as “American Idol,” “America’s Got Talent” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”
