Best known for his starring role as Steve Elliott in the CBS sitcom “Petticoat Junction,” actor Mike Minor has died. The former soap star, who made a big impression on daytime fans as Brandon Kingsley on “All My Children” and as Dr. Royal Dunning on “Another World,” passed away on Thursday, January 28. He was 75 years old.

Although cause of death had been reported to be the result of cancer, MeTV reports that a family member recently informed the network that the information is not correct.

On “AMC,” Brandon Kingsley was at the center of the drama that led to the collapse of Erica’s marriage to Tom Cudahy (Richard Shoberg). Erica would later discover that Kingsley was secretly married with kids.

In addition to “AMC” and “AW,” Minor also had brief stints on “As The World Turns” and “The Edge of Night.”

The actor appeared in episodes of “The Beverly Hillbillies,” “My Three Sons” and “L.A. Law,” among others.

UPDATE: Minor’s sister-in-law, Marlene Duerr Fedderson, wrote on the “Petticoat Junction” Fan Page earlier today to clarify the date of death and cause of death of the beloved actor. You can read her message in full below.

On behalf of Michael’s family and friends, we want to first thank all of you for your love and support during this sad time.

We do want to provide you with correct information as the media sources have erroneously reported both the date (Jan 25) and cause (cancer) of death.

Michael’s date of passing is Thursday, January 28, 2016. He did not have cancer. Although he passed suddenly please know his passing was peaceful.

Again we thank you for all your support. Michael’s deep love for family, friends and fans will remain forever in each of our hearts.

With love, Marlene (sister-in-law, wife of Dana Fedderson).
