After eight years of playing suave Salem surgeon Daniel Jonas, actor Shawn Christian was let go from “Days of our Lives.” In a stunning move, his character was scripted as the victim in a fatal car crash caused by a drunk Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).

Daniel’s death leaves Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) without her only son, Nicole (Arianne Zucker) without a fiance, and Melanie (Molly Burnett) and Parker (Christian Ganiere) fatherless.

What are your thoughts on Christian’s departure from the soap? Weigh in with the following poll.
