As previously reported, soap stars Lindsay Hartley (“All My Children,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Passions“), Crystal Hunt (“Guiding Light,” “One Life to Live”), Vanessa Marcil (“Beverly Hills, 90210,” “General Hospital”), Chrystee Pharris (“Passions,” “General Hospital”) and Hunter Tylo (“The Bold and The Beautiful”) have signed on for POP’s newest reality series, “Queens of Drama,” where the ladies will work together to produce a pilot for a new serialized primetime drama series. As the poster above warns, today, October 28, marks the beginning of production for show. Donna Mills (“General Hospital,” “Knots Landing,” “Melrose Place”) will also be taking part with special appearances.

While we wait to find out who is nominated for the “41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” when nominations are announced on Thursday, May 1, David Michaels, Senior Executive Director and Co-Executive Producer of the awards show, which falls under the purview of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), which is not to be confused with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (now known as simply the Television Academy), recently took time to speak with Soap Opera Network about the upcoming broadcast that still finds itself without a TV home after cable network HLN announced earlier this year that they had passed on airing daytime television’s most highly anticipated event. The network previously aired the ceremony in 2012 and 2013 to record ratings.
TVGN (TV Guide Network) announced today during its upfront presentation several new and returning series that will encompass more than 400 hours of original programming set to air on the network during the 2014-2015 television season. As part of its presentation, the network revealed that it is currently developing a new docu-series project from the producers of “Hatfields & McCoys” and “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” that follows former daytime and primetime soap stars as they attempt to produce a new primetime serialized drama that they will eventually star in.
Since acquiring encore airing rights to CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” late last year, TVGN had been airing the series with a one day delay. Beginning Monday, February 17, however, the network announced today that it will start airing same day episodes of the world’s most watched daytime drama series.
Fans love it when their show goes on location, but whatever happened to exterior shots – images of outdoor locations inserted before a scene takes place between characters – which were heavily utilized on “Passions,” the now defunct NBC and DirecTV daytime soap opera?
TVGN, which yesterday announced plans to air marathon episodes of “The Tomorrow People,” “The Originals” and “Reign” on Saturday afternoons leading up to the return of new episodes to The CW, today announced that it will provide an all-day marathon of CBS’ “Hostages” on Sunday, January 5. The marathon begins at 1:00 PM ET/PT, starting with the series premiere, and will last until 2:00 AM ET/PT on Monday, January 6.
Just in time for all new episodes to premiere on The CW later this month, TVGN (TV Guide Network) announced today plans to run marathons of the broadcast network’s hit dramas “The Tomorrow People,” “The Originals” and “Reign.” Each series is scheduled to air back-to-back episodes on TVGN in all-day marathons beginning with their first episode.
TVGN is proving why it’s now the “the new way to watch soaps.” With the network already picking up encore airing rights to “The Young and the Restless” this past summer, and “The Bold and the Beautiful” earlier this month, the network plans to provide soap fans with even more “soap” for their viewing pleasure courtesy of the new documentary, “Who Shot the Daytime Soap?” Airing Monday, December 16 at 8:00 PM ET/PT, preceded by airings of “B&B” at 6:30 PM ET/PT and “Y&R” at 7:00 PM ET/PT, the documentary tackles the history of daytime soap operas as told by those who were there during the good times, the bad times and the new times.
As previously reported, Tristan Rogers will soon be departing ABC’s “General Hospital” after his most recent stint as Robert Scorpio comes to an end. With his pending return to CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” in the new year, Rogers recently announced on Twitter his final film date at “GH” and his first film date back at “Y&R.”
As previously reported, TVGN (TV Guide Network) will begin airing encore episodes of CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” weeknights at 6:30 PM ET/PT starting today. In celebration, the network will be hosting a live Twitter chat with “B&B” stars Heather Tom (Katie Logan) and Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer). Using hashtag #BBonTVGN, fans can interact with the duo beginning at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM/PT as they answer fan questions just before TVGN’s airing of their show. Unlike “The Young and the Restless,” which also airs on the network at 7:00 PM ET/PT, “B&B” will air episodes a day after airing on CBS. Therefore, the first episode scheduled air will be the Wednesday, November 27 Thanksgiving Day themed episode which highlighted the togetherness between the Forresters, Logans, Spencers and more.
CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” will be joining sister soap “The Young and the Restless” on cable for the first time ever when it begins airing encore episodes on TVGN (TV Guide Network) beginning Monday, December 2 at 6:30 PM ET/PT, it was announced today by Brad Schwartz, President, Entertainment and Media, TVGN and Bradley P. Bell, Executive Producer and Head Writer, “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
TVGN will encore the prior day’s episodes of “B&B” immediately preceding encore airings of “Y&R.” Additionally, TVGN will begin airing the five most recent episodes of the soap back-to-back every Sunday beginning Sunday, December 8 from 11:00 AM ET/PT to 1:30 PM ET/PT.
In the first 10 weeks of the first quarter, “The Young and the Restless” along with “Big Brother After Dark,” have delivered triple-digit gains in Total Viewers and Women 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.
CBS Corporation and Time Warner Cable (TWC) have been embroiled in a carriage dispute since the expiration of their contract on June 30, and as a result the two sides gave Wednesday, July 24 as their deadline to come to an agreement before millions of CBS viewers were left in the dark. Thankfully, the two companies continued discussions and were able to extend their deadline several times since. Last night was the latest scheduled deadline, but both parties failed to come to an agreement yet again and have now set Friday, August 2 at 5:00 PM ET as the next deadline. The extension occurred nearly a half hour after TWC blackened CBS programming in various markets.
TVGN today announced two new unscripted series and two new celebrity-driven projects as part of the original programming that will premiere on its fall 2013 schedule.
In honor of “The Young and the Restless” moving to TVGN, the network has released a new advertisement, via TV Guide Magazine, that states “Daytime Drama Is Hotter At Night.” In addition to promoting the show on TVGN, fans are asked to enter for a chance to win an exclusive “Y&R” set visit and meeting with some of the shows cast members by simply watching the soap on the network and entering a code on TVGN’s Facebook page.

As previously reported, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” is moving to TVGN (née TV Guide Network) beginning Monday, July 1, after spending just over 7 years on SOAPnet. The soap will continue airing same-day episodes Monday through Friday at 7:00 PM ET/PT. In the just released new promo, “Y&R” fans will see Kristoff St. John’s Neil Winters and Angell Conwell’s Leslie Michaelson having a heated convo that turns to passion. In addition to the promo, TVGN has also released the full episode of “The Young and the Restless On Set: InFanity,” the special hosted by St. John that provided viewers with a behind the scenes look at the creation of Genoa City, on YouTube.
As previously reported, TVGN has picked up the same-day airing rights of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” beginning with the Monday, July 1 episode. This means that this week is the final week in which fans of the SOAPnet airings will be able to catch the drama series on the never ending defunct cable network.
