On Friday, May 9, actor and rock and roller Rick Springfield (ex-Noah Drake, “General Hospital”) received one the the highest honors an entertainer could ever hope to attain: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Joined by former “GH” co-star Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake) and “The Young and the Restless'” Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), the hour long ceremony included speeches by Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Leron Gubler, Thompson and Davidson, before Springfield took the stage to accept his honor.

As we previously reported, former “All My Children” actress Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) appeared on OWN’s “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” last week to discuss her initial shock regarding “AMC’s” cancellation, her fears of never working again and some fun details regarding her new role on Lifetime’s “Devious Maids.” And now, the network has released a video clip of the daytime icon’s spot on the show!

From personal stories to stories from concert fields, the documentary film, “An Affair of the Heart,” follows the life of the multi-talented actor/musician from the perspective of his fans who share details on when they first discovered him and what makes him such an icon in their lives. The film was recently released on DVD/blu-ray and hails from an idea by producer Melanie Lentz-Janney, who has been a loyal fan of Rick’s for thirty years. “The Young and the Restless'” Doug Davidson along with “GH’s'” Jacklyn Zeman, Kimberly McCullough, Jason Thompson and Brandon Barash also appear in the film.

Host Katie Couric and an audience filled with die-hard “GH” fans will be spending a full hour paying homage to the long-running drama, and several Port Charles residents are slated to participate!

As “General Hospital’s” 50th anniversary celebration kicks into high gear this week with a very special episode airing Tuesday, April 2 (episode was originally scheduled to air on Monday, April 1 as the 50th anniversary celebratory episode), fans will have no chance of avoiding the cast of the series as they grace your TV screens in more ways than one. In addition to the upcoming Special Edition of “20/20″ with Katie Couric,” wherein ABC News will feature “General Hospital” in a “Real Soap Dish” episode airing Saturday, April 6 from 9:00 – 10:00 PM ET on ABC, the daytime talk show newbie will host the series in a special edition of “Katie” airing on Thursday, April 4. Stars scheduled to appear in the episode include Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer), Genie Francis (Laura Spencer), Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin), Finola Hughes (Anna Devanne), and Kelly Monaco, with a special performance by Rick Springfield (Noah Drake).

Although “General Hospital” the TV show will turn the golden age of 50 on Monday, April 1, the General Hospital within the show has been preparing for the return of its annual Nurses Ball charity event, which has been inactive since June 2001, and Frank Valentini, Executive Producer, speaks on the return of the Nurses Ball and celebrating fifty years of a television icon.

As previously reported by Soap Opera Network, ABC News’ “20/20” will be honoring the 50th anniversary of ABC’s “General Hospital” on Saturday, April 6. Dubbed “‘General Hospital’ – The Real Soap Dish,” Katie Couric will take viewers behind the scenes of the fictional town of Port Charles, NY. The hour-long special will include interviews with such “GH” stars as Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer), Genie Francis (Laura Spencer), Jack Wagner (Frisco Jones), Rick Springfield (Noah Drake), Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall), Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) and many more. Fans will also get to hear from Frank Valentini, who has spearheaded the soap into increased ratings since taking over as executive producer in January 2012.

Beginning Friday, March 29 at 10:00 PM ET/PT and running through Monday, April 1 at 12:00 AM ET/PT (Sunday night/Monday morning), SOAPnet will be airing a 50-hour marathon of 50 classic episodes from the 50 years of ABC’s “General Hospital.” The marathon is kicked off with the very first episode of the drama series, which aired on April 1, 1963. The unprecedented event leads into the special anniversary episode of “GH,” which airs Monday, April 1 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET/1:00-2:00 PM PT/CT on ABC and 9:00 PM ET/PT on SOAPnet. The cable network will air an encore of the episode at 12:00 AM ET/PT (Monday night/Tuesday morning). Episodes from every decade the show has been on the air will be featured.
