In addition to “The Bold and the Beautiful” becoming the sole nominee and de facto winner in the category of Outstanding Daily Drama, nominees for the “The 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards” were announced today by the organization which recognizes and honors media published, released or broadcast during calendar year 2015 for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

In a posting on his Facebook page last week, former “Desperate Housewives” and “One Life to Live” star Tuc Watkins commented on his perception of gay stereotypes as shown on ABC’s “Modern Family” each week. The actor’s comments soon got picked up by the Greg in Hollywood blog, which got the attention of “Modern Family” actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays one half of the popular gay couple on the sitcom.

If you’re a fan of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Castle,” “Modern Family,” “The Middle,” “The Goldbergs” or “Black-ish” you’re in luck: ABC has extended the episode orders for each of the 7 series beyond the typical 22 episodes. Unfortunately, if you got yourself entwined in “Manhattan Love Story” you’re in for a big disappointment: ABC has canceled the series after just three airings.

Famous funnyman Fred Willard is set to make his “The Bold and the Beautiful” debut as Eric’s (John McCook) brother, John Forrester, next week! To celebrate his arrival, Soap Opera Network took part in a special press event where the celebrated comedian shared all the deets about his daytime gig, including working with the sudser’s cast, staying PG for family audiences and what viewers can really expect from the zany character once he crashes Forrester Creations. It’s been over a month since “The Young and the Restless’” Elizabeth Hendrickson last aired as Chloe Mitchell, and many fans are still getting used to her onscreen absence. Soap Opera Network caught up with Hendrickson to get the scoop on how life has been since departing the daytime world, and it sounds like the actress is doing everything she can to shed the tears of her acting past and welcome new smiles.

Hot on the heels of Fox and NBC’s release of their fall 2014-2015 primetime schedules comes the reveal of ABC’s fall schedule, which includes several new series (which you can read more about here).

ABC has renewed dramas “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Castle,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Resurrection,” “Revenge” and “Scandal,” while also picking up comedies “The Goldbergs,” “The Middle,” and “Modern Family” for the 2014-2015 television season. The network has yet to decide the fates of drama “Nashville” and comedy “Last Man Standing,” although the likelihood of both series returning remains strong.

ABC’s “Modern Family” is about to get a bump up in coolness: “The Talk” panelist and host of the CW’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Aisha Tyler is set to guest star on the popular sitcom later this season!

In celebration of its “Home for the Holidays” campaign, ABC announced today plans to incorporate United States Veterans in upcoming episodes of its daytime and primetime programming, including “Modern Family,” “Last Man Standing” and “General Hospital.” Comedy “The Neighbors” will offer a veteran the opportunity to shadow one of their directors as they put an episode together. Meanwhile, “The View” and “The Chew” will support the vets with various themed episodes throughout the holiday season.

They say fast-paced soap operas are good training grounds for primetime gigs, and that must be the case, considering several former soap stars have garnered Primetime Emmy nods this year!
