There have been a slew of stories celebrating soap operas’ recent turnaround in the ratings game as of late, but it’s an unexpected trend worth repeating: Soaps are back, baby! And “General Hospital,” which was marching toward an ABC death similar to “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” is doing particularly well. Soap Opera Network sat down with the sudser’s very own William DeVry (Julian Jerome), who discussed some particulars of why “GH” is on such an upswing. And while he was at it, he revealed some details on what’s to come in Julian’s life, as well!

As a result of the Friday, December 20 preemption, ABC’s “General Hospital’s” is currently behind in its airing schedule. What that means is that the previously scheduled “Home for the Holidays” themed episode set to air today, will instead air on Friday, December 27. Also shifted is the debut of “GH” newcomer Ryan Paevey in the contract role of Nathan West. The character, who was originally set to debut on tomorrow’s episode, will instead debut on the Monday, December 30 episode in scenes alongside Kirsten Storms’ Maxie Jones, who seeks to get out of town just as Port Charles gets ready to celebrate the New Year as a result of the recent baby drama and the need to clear her head. In real-life, Storms is headed for maternity leave as she’s due to give birth in January to a little girl by husband and former “GH” co-star, Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny Zacchara).
As previously reported, ABC’s “Home for the Holidays” special event will be hitting “General Hospital.” Soap Opera Network has learned that Christopher Allen, a real life United States military veteran who served four years in the U.S. Air Force, will be appearing on the Thursday, December 26 episode as military veteran CPO Hicks.
On Wednesday, October 23, “General Hospital’s” Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake) will be giving ABC’s “The View” a male perspective on the day’s hot topics as the daytime star is scheduled to co-host the chatfest alongside Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy and Whoopi Goldberg. The Canadian born actor will also be chatting it up with the stars of ABC’s “The Middle” as the cast celebrates the show’s 100th episode airing that night.

In a welcome twist of fate it looks as though Lucy’s return has actually helped open up a string of storylines tied to ABC’s canceled “General Hospital” spin-off “Port Charles.”
On Wednesday, November 7, Kelly Monaco’s professional dance partner on “Dancing with the Stars: All Stars,” Val Chmerkovskiy tweeted, “On my way to @GeneralHospital and its not cause @kellymonaco1 is working… #DaytimeEmmy here I come lol #thrilled #honored.” Monaco followed up his tweet when she said, “So proud of @iamValC [Chmerkovskiy’s Twitter handle] Had his 1st day of shooting on the set of @GeneralHospital… from #DWTS to #GH :)” While it was unclear at the time when he would first air, Soap Opera Network has learned that Chmerkovskiy will air on the Monday, December 10 episode of the ABC drama series and that he’ll be playing a boxer that spars with Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Shawn (Sean Blakemore).
