According to Daniel Goddard, the citizens of Genoa City will mourn the loss of Katherine Chancellor in episodes scheduled to air on Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4 of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.” Goddard, who portrays Cane Ashby on the daytime drama series, noted on his Facebook page that the episodes were filmed on Tuesday. He posted, “Huge day on set today just got home have to be back in 10 hours. How was ur day?” after completing filming.

As previously reported, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” is moving to TVGN (née TV Guide Network) beginning Monday, July 1, after spending just over 7 years on SOAPnet. The soap will continue airing same-day episodes Monday through Friday at 7:00 PM ET/PT. In the just released new promo, “Y&R” fans will see Kristoff St. John’s Neil Winters and Angell Conwell’s Leslie Michaelson having a heated convo that turns to passion. In addition to the promo, TVGN has also released the full episode of “The Young and the Restless On Set: InFanity,” the special hosted by St. John that provided viewers with a behind the scenes look at the creation of Genoa City, on YouTube.
EXCLUSIVE: On Sunday, June 16, shortly after the conclusion of the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, Soap Opera Network caught up with Jess Walton (Jill Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”), who said, “She was so loved, and she so loved her fans more than anyone,” while discussing the passing of Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor). Cooper died on Wednesday, May 8 after a brief illness.

Il Volo, the Italian Opera trio, have been confirmed to perform their hit song “Mas Que Amor” during the “In Memoriam” tribute of the “40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards,” which will be introduced by “The Young and the Restless’” Max Ehrich (Fenmore Baldwin), Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), Hunter King (Summer Newman), Jess Walton (Jill Foster) and Corbin Bernsen, the son of the late Jeanne Cooper. The tribute is scheduled to honor the legendary actress who died last month.

Betty White, Steve Harvey, Wayne Brady, Alex Trebek, Todd Newton, Bethany Frankel and Kris Jenner are included, with White and Brady presenting Monty Hall and Bob Stewart, respectively, with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards.

When Jeanne Cooper first stepped into “The Young and the Restless’” Genoa City as Katherine Chancellor back in 1973, soap opera history was made. Written by show creator William J. Bell specifically to convey controversial storylines that would boost weak ratings, Katherine was everything the wealthy wife of Phillip Chancellor II shouldn’t be: a drunk, a heavy smoker and a bit of a slut who had illicit affairs with stable boys. Despite the character’s many problems, fans fell in love with Katherine — as well as the actress who so effortlessly brought her to life.
In her final words on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” as Katherine Chancellor (aired on Friday, May 3), Jeanne Cooper says to Jess Walton’s Jill Abbott, “I believe I can manage. Thank you, though,” when Jill asks if Katherine needs help getting up the stairs. Katherine’s final word was “Goodnight” as Jill watched her climb up the steps.
