Five years after being taken off contract and placed on recurring status, Jacklyn Zeman (ex-Bobbie Spencer, “General Hospital”) has opened up to Soap Opera Digest in its newest issue about the circumstances surrounding her unexpected departure from the ABC daytime drama series.

Rumor has it that Ian Buchanan, who just completed his run on NBC’s “Days of our Lives” yesterday as Ian McAllister, is heading back to ABC’s “General Hospital” after a 23-year absence. Buchanan was last seen in 1989 as Duke Lavery on the soap, but the character was killed off in 1990 while portrayed by actor Greg Beecroft.

“Days of our Lives” is presenting a fan giveaway and Soap Opera Network is pleased to be asked to take part! Beginning Today, August 23 and running through 11:59 PM ET on Thursday, August 30, fans of the NBC Daytime drama series can enter to win an assortment of prizes including a “DAYS” tote bag, coffee mug, picture case, mirror compact, t-shirt and a “DAYS’ hat.

The Huffington Post is reporting that Lisa Rinna is departing NBC’s “Days of our Lives” nearly nine months after returning to the set of the daytime drama series in the role of Billie Reed, which she originated back in 1992.

“Days of our Lives” has returned from its two-week Olympic break to match the show’s highest women 18-49 and women 18-34 ratings in more than eight months.

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Marshall Hilliard will appear for eight episodes as a new officer at the Port Charles Police Department. “I call him Officer Marshall,” the actor joked to Digest.

Eileen Davidson is returning to NBC’s “Days of our Lives” after Sony Pictures Television opted to transition her off of their soap “The Young and the Restless” and onto “DAYS” to re-create the magic of her character Kristen DiMera. Sony Pictures Television distributes “DAYS,” which is owned by Corday Productions, Inc.

Although “Good Afternoon America” showed some gains over the recent performance of ratings eyesore “The Revolution,” those gains could only last so long. The ABC News daytime talk show hosted by “Good Morning America’s” Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott has also failed to bring in an audience on par with the year-ago airings of the canceled “One Life to Live” after five weeks of ratings data (week of August 6-10, 2012).

After her character was shamed out of Salem last year prior to the major “Days of our Lives” reboot, Nadia Bjorlin is returning to the NBC Daytime drama series in the coming months as a “stronger and more confident Chloe [Lane] who can really stand up for herself and not be bullied,” so says the actress in an interview with TV Guide Magazine’s Michael Logan.

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday season (it’s fast approaching), Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans, “Days of our Lives”) is now selling her watercolor paintings as 5×7 inch holiday cards.

As we have been reporting for the past week, “Days of our Lives” actress Melissa Reeves (Jennifer Horton) has been embroiled in a controversy over a recent tweet she made to her followers about free speech. “Chick-fil-a today!!!! Loved every bite of it;)!! Land of the free and home of the brave. Love that we all appreciate free speech, right?” said Reeves on Tuesday, August 1. Since that day several people, including fans of Reeves, and of her show, have bombarded the actress with responses that either agree with her comment, call for her to apologize and/or clarify her statement, or used unmentionable language against her. Some of her daytime brethren have also spoken out on the issue, but not as harshly. On Thursday, August 16, Reeves finally responded by deleting her Twitter account…but not before making a bold statement.

Ratings Report for the Week of August 6-10, 2012

On Wednesday, August 15, Crystal Chappell (Danielle, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) published a new blog post on the “Venice: The Series” website. Her post was in regards to a tweet by former “Days of our Lives” co-star Melissa Reeves (Jennifer Horton) that caused controversy within the daytime community.

For the past couple of years NBC’s “Days of our Lives” has been holding its “A Day of Days” fan event at Universal Studios CityWalk, where fans of the drama series could meet and great some of their favorite stars and get signed autographs. Unfortunately, this year the network has decided not to continue that event, and instead opted to branch it out a little bit (similar to how ABC canceled Super Soap Weekend, which turned into the Soap Nation Tour). Earlier this year, in a posting on the soaps operas Facebook page, the network said, “Ask and you shall receive! NBC has heard your requests and we are taking our yearly fan event on the road! Instead of holding our event at Universal City in California, members of the ‘Days of our Lives’ cast will be traveling to a few cities around the country. Dates and cities to be announced soon!” That “soon” is now.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’re likely already aware that Greg Vaughan (ex-Lucky Spencer, “General Hospital”) is joining “Days of our Lives” as a recast Eric Brady. What you didn’t know was his first airdate, or his characters new holy profession. Say what?

John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis, “Days of our Lives”) was the last to learn that daughter Jennifer Aniston (“Friends”) was engaged to long-time boyfriend Justin Theroux, reports Celebuzz.

While Soap Opera Digest in its newest issue lists their last airdate being Wednesday, August 15, both Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) and Sarah Brown (Madison James) will actually find their characters departing the world of the living much sooner.

A “Days of our Lives” representative has confirmed to ​Soap Opera Network​ that when Blake Berris returns to the drama series beginning with the Monday, August 27 episode, his character, Nick Fallon, will not only be up for parole, but viewers will also be able to see his on-screen mother for the first time in 30 years!
