The wait is finally over for the launch of Sonia Blangiardo’s “Taint Dreams: The Series,” which features Alicia Minshew (“All My Children”), Terri Ivens (“AMC”), Grant Aleksander (“Guiding Light”), Kelley Menighan Hensley (“As the World Turns“), Walt Willey (“AMC”), Natalia Livingston (“GH“), Marnie Schulenburg (“ATWT”), Michael Lowry (“AMC,” “One Life to Live“), Nathan Purdee (“OLTL”), Austin Peck (“ATWT,” “Days of our Lives“, “OLTL”), Colleen Zenk (“ATWT”), Larkin Malloy (“The Edge of Knight,” “AMC”) Dina Manzo (“Dina’s Party” and “The Real Housewives of New Jersey”), Anthony Wilkinson (“My Big Gay Italian Wedding” and the new “My Big Gay Italian Funeral”), Lisa Marie Varon (“IMPACT WRESTLING”) and “Mr. PEC-Tacular” Jessie Godderz (“IMPACT WRESTLING” and “Big Brother”), Bobbie Eakes (“AMC,” “The Bold and the Beautiful“), Ilene Kristen (“OLTL,” “Ryan’s Hope”), James DePaiva ( “OLTL”) and Tonja Walker (“OLTL”), along with a host of newcomers, as viewers are treated to a behind the scenes look at the daytime soap “Painted Dreams.”

From re-runs of soap classics “Dallas,” “Dynasty,” “Another World,” “Port Charles,” and “Falcon Crest,” to the launches of original series “SoapCenter,” “Soap Talk” and “General Hospital: Night Shift,” SOAPnet was defined as the “new way to watch soaps” for much of its near 14-year run. With just 2 days left before SOAPnet is no more, we thought it would be a great opportunity to look back at the inaugural year of a network that gave diehard soap fans their own platform to shout with glee through the death of a network that outlived its purpose.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Daniel Cosgrove has joined the cast of NBC’s “Days of our Lives” in the newly created role of Aiden. “This is the first time that I’ve ever played a daytime character that wasn’t played by someone else,” said the actor to the magazine of his previous roles as Scott Chandler (“All My Children”), Chris Hughes (“As The World Turns”) and Bill Lewis (“Guiding Light”), all played by several actors prior to his portrayal.

Set to the tune “Too Darn Hot (RAC Mix)” by Ella Fitzgerald, OWN has released a new teaser trailer for season 2 of “Tyler Parry’s The Haves and the Have Nots,” starring former “One Life to Live” actress Tika Sumpter (ex-Layla Williamson). Set to premiere Tuesday, January 7, 2014, the addictive primetime soap opera brings viewers back to Savannah, Georgia and the complicated dynamics between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the friends and enemies they surround themselves by. The series also stars John Schneider, Renee Lawless, Crystal Fox, Eva Tamargo (ex-Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald, “Passions”), Angela Robinson, Peter Parros (ex-Ben Harris, “As The World Turns”; ex-Ben Price, “One Life to Live”), Gavin Houston (ex-Remy Boudreau, “Guiding Light”; ex-Sly Thomas, “General Hospital”), Aaron O’Connell, Tyler Lepley and Jaclyn Betham.

In its newest issue, Soap Opera Digest shed some light on Mark Collier’s new role on NBC’s “Days of our Lives.” The actor, who debuts on the Wednesday, December 18 episode, is portraying Liam, who Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans) sets up on a date with Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves). “I knew his first name was Liam, but not much more than that. He went to high school in Salem,” shares the actor who began filming in August. Ironically, with Collier now on board, the “DAYS” cast now includes the first two actors who portrayed “As The World Turns'” Mike Kasnoff (Collier played the character from 2002-2007; Shawn Christian [Daniel Jonas] originated the role in 1994).

“As The World Turns” alum Jesse Lee Soffer (ex-Will Munson) is sure making a name for himself outside of daytime television. As previously reported, the actor is starring in NBC’s newest police procedural, “Chicago P.D.,” which is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. The series follows a group of men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city’s most heinous offenses – organized crime, drug trafficking, high profile murders and beyond. Leading the cast is Jason Beghe as Detective Sgt. Hank Voight, who is at ground zero of the war on crime in Chicago.

TVGN is proving why it’s now the “the new way to watch soaps.” With the network already picking up encore airing rights to “The Young and the Restless” this past summer, and “The Bold and the Beautiful” earlier this month, the network plans to provide soap fans with even more “soap” for their viewing pleasure courtesy of the new documentary, “Who Shot the Daytime Soap?” Airing Monday, December 16 at 8:00 PM ET/PT, preceded by airings of “B&B” at 6:30 PM ET/PT and “Y&R” at 7:00 PM ET/PT, the documentary tackles the history of daytime soap operas as told by those who were there during the good times, the bad times and the new times.

Like “As The World Turns,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “Guiding Light” before it, producers of CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” have announced a new partnership with Pan Macmillan and its digital-first imprint, Momentum, in which the publishing company will release a series of novellas surrounding several characters from “B&B.”

To benefit Habitat for Humanity, fans of “As The World Turns” icon, Eileen Fulton (ex-Lisa Grimaldi) will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear from the actress as she discusses her career, personal endeavors and much, much more. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 24 at 7:00 PM at the Metropolitan Room, located at 34 West 22nd Street, New York, NY. There is a $25 cover to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, there is a 2 drink minimum. For reservations call (212) 206-0440.

Get ready to scream in fright (or perhaps delight), because Soap Opera Network managed to get our hands on some deliciously devilish Halloween pictures from a few of your favorite “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless” stars! It’s been a whirlwind past few days for Jordana Brewster (Elena Ramos, “Dallas;” Nikki Munson, “As the World Turns”) and her husband, Andrew Form, who are proud to announce to the birth of their son, Julian Brewster-Form.

Things are about to start looking a bit different in Genoa City, as “The Young and the Restless” has named its new headwriters: Current ‘Y&R’ scribe Shelly Altman and daytime writer Jean Passanante will share the position, along with ‘Y&R’ scribe Tracey Thomson, who’s been promoted to co-writer within the new, all female headwriting team.

Sad news if you’ve become addicted to ABC Family’s “The Lying Game”: The serial drama, which stars “As the World Turns’” Alexandra Chando (ex-Maddie Coleman) and “General Hospital’s” Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassadine), has been cancelled.

“Tainted Dreams,” the soap within a soap, has announced that former “All My Children” and “Edge of Night” actor Larkin Malloy has joined its cast in the role of Henry Steinman, a director of the fictional soap “Painted Dreams.”
