Born in Brooklyn, NY, Errol Lewis began watching soap operas in 1993 around the time Luke and Laura Spencer (Anthony Geary and Genie Francis) returned to “General Hospital,” but they weren’t what got him watching on a regular basis. “It was Lucy Coe [Lynn Herring] and her duck Sigmond,” he says of how he got started with soaps. “The adventures of Kevin [Jon Lindstrom] and Lucy, and Mac [John J. York] and Felicia [Kristina Wagner] was thrilling drama for me which was not something your typical nine-year-old boy could say about his viewing habits at the time.” Mr. Lewis would soon begin watching all of the soaps including the since departed “All My Children,” “As The World Turns,” “Guiding Light,” “One Life to Live, “Passions,” “Port Charles” and “Sunset Beach. The four soap operas remaining on the air includes “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital,” and “The Young and the Restless.” Splitting his time maintaining the day-to-day functionality of Soap Opera Network, Mr. Lewis is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the website which became a .com service in November 2002. He assumed administrative oversight of the website in early 2003.

Nearly four years since launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund a pilot episode of “The Rich and the Ruthless,” loosely based on her novels “Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva” and “The Young and the Ruthless,” actress Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters, “The Young and the Restless”) will finally see her vision come to life as a six-part scripted comedy series courtesy of Urban Movie Channel, an urban-focused subscription streaming service created by Black Entertainment Television founder Robert L. Johnson.

Veteran CBS Daytime executives Margot WainRay Paolantonio and Laurie Seidman have been given a promotion, it was announced today by Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs and Syndicated Program Development, CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Distribution. Wain has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Daytime Programs, and Paolantonio and Seidman have been promoted to Vice Presidents, Daytime Programs.

With a successful lineup consisting of soap operas, game shows and a hit talk show, CBS announced today that it has renewed its full daytime lineup for the 2017-18 television season. Additionally, “The Young and the Restless” received an overall three-year commitment from the network, keeping it on the air through at least the 2019-2020 television season. “The Price is Right” was renewed through the 2018-19 television season.

The latest scandal involves a 2005 video released to The Washington Post, which includes audio from a hot microphone where the Republican candidate is heard making vulgar comments about women while openly talking with former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush. Citing newly released Nielsen Media Research ratings data, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” is up during first quarter 2016 over first quarter 2015 in Total Viewers. The daytime drama series averaged 5.38 million viewers during the quarter, which is a gain of 11,000 viewers over the comparable quarter a year ago.
