Vanessa Mathison, the real-life wife of actor Cameron Mathison, will make her acting debut on the Thursday, April 21 episode of ABC’s “General Hospital.” She’ll be playing the role of Mia opposite her husband, who plays Drew Cain on the daytime drama series. Mia is described as an executive coach who meets with Drew.
“I hope you check it out and show her some love,” said the “GH” star of his wife on Instagram as he shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the day she filmed, including a video of her stepping onto the set and starting her acting journey.
“I have to say… [executive producer] Frank Valentini made the character of Drew a reality for me, and now he has made Vanessa’s dream come true as well,” noted Mathison of his wife. “Vanessa has been a ‘GH’ fan her whole life! When I met her I was Ryan on ‘All My Children’ and she had no idea who I was… she only watched ‘GH’ (yes, especially you @jackwagnerofficial). Look at you now @vanessa.mathison So thank you Frank, and thank you to every single cast and crew that was so kind to Vanessa on her big day. I love you guys.”
“I did it! I did it!” said an ecstatic Mathison after filming her scenes. “It was so amazing, so surreal. So exciting, I can’t believe it,” she added when her husband asked about her experience. He chimed in, saying, “Now I’m no longer the biggest soap star in our family.”
“General Hospital” marks Vanessa Mathison’s acting debut. She’s previously appeared as herself numerous times alongside her husband on “Entertainment Tonight,” “Home & Family” and the two co-starred in “Cameron’s House Rules,” a W Network original series aired in Canada.
