We’re just days away from “General Hospital” running out of original episodes to air after shutting down production in March due to COVID-19 concerns. With ample time for the writing team to reassess their story projections depending on when the show resumes production, is it possible we might see the return of Dominic Zamprogna to his Daytime Emmy Award-nominated role as Dante Falconeri? The actor is open to a return!

In a recent interview with Soaps In Depth, first published in its print edition (now out of print), the magazine is reporting that Zamprogna wants to return to Port Charles and he’s even willing to sign a contract if offered.

“Frank [Valentini, executive producer] knows I am ready to come home,” the actor said to Soaps In Depth. “And I’d be totally open to a contract. There’s so much potential with the character and the story right now. With everything they’ve done since Dante’s been gone, there are so many options, and they’d all be fun to play.”

Noting it was never his plan to disappear from the show forever, Zamprogna said, “Since last September, I started to really feel the pull back — because ‘GH’ is a huge part of my life. I called Maurice Benard (Sonny) a couple of weeks ago and honestly, almost cried. I love that place, I love those people, and I love that job.”

Also commenting that he has been keeping tabs on what’s happening in Port Charles via his continued communication with Benard, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos), Zamprogna even shared that he’s met Lulu’s (Emme Rylan) new on-screen beau, Dustin Phillips, played on a recurring basis by Mark Lawson. ” Mark Lawson’s kids and my kids go to the same gymnastics place,” says Zamprogna, adding, “He came up and introduced himself, and I was like, ‘So you’re the new guy!’
