CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” will once again air a classic episode on Friday, April 17. This time, fans are invited to the iconic Masquerade Ball of 1991.
In the episode, originally aired on October 2, 1991, residents of Genoa City don lavish costumes for a night of dining and dancing at a charity masquerade ball. While the “Queen of Hearts” (Jeanne Cooper), “Prince Charming” (Peter Bergman), “Roman Conqueror” (Eric Braeden), “Marie Antoinette” (Tracey E. Bregman) and many others enjoy the evening, a mystery guest has murder on his mind.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly‘s Lynette Rice, “Y&R’s Jess Walton (Jill Foster Abbott) recalled the epicness of the event and how much her feet hurt after the three-day shoot concluded.
“I loved my Cleopatra costume. I loved those two guys who were naked to the waist and fanned me. I came down the stairs with these two guys,” says Walton to EW. “We always used to joke that Jill was so beastly to everybody. Nobody really liked her. In all the party scenes she’d be standing alone. So I actually had two extras to talk to who were fanning me.”
Walton adds, “By the third day we were hiding behind the sets and the stage manager came around and forced us out on the floor. We had to have our high heels on. That’s just part of that glam thing. Three days is a long time to be dancing and standing constantly. I remember Sharon Ferrell, who played Nina’s mother, gave us all foot massages.”
