Beginning Tuesday, February 18, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” will celebrate 40 years of Daytime Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Braeden and his legendary character, Victor Newman.

Taking place over three episodes, viewers will be treated to memorable clips from the actor’s 40-year run on the show, including those dating back to his 1980 debut season. The character first appeared in Genoa City on February 8, 1980.

“I am enormously grateful to the writers and my fellow actors, and most importantly to Bill Bell,” said Braeden of the upcoming celebration in his honor.

In story, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) hosts a glamorous gala to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Victor’s company, Newman Enterprises. In addition to the Newman family, the gala will be attended by familiar faces from Victor’s past and present, because it’s not a Newman family party without surprise guests! Returning for the celebration are Victor’s grandson, Noah Newman (Robert Adamson), his first wife, Julia (Meg Bennett), and Victor’s brother, Matt Miller, played by Robert Parucha, who originated the role in 1985.

The special “Y&R” episodes dedicated to Eric Braeden and Victor Newman will air beginning Tuesday, February 18 and will run through Thursday, February 20 on CBS.

CBS recently announced it had picked up “Y&R” for an additional four seasons. The show will remain on the network through at least the 2023-2024 broadcast television season. The soap will celebrate its 50th anniversary on March 26, 2023.
