Daytime Emmy Award winner Kristoff St. John has died. The actor, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene after a friend went to check on him at his San Fernando Valley home on Sunday, and found his body, reports TMZ. St. John had portrayed Neil Winters on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” since 1991.
According to the publication, an audio recording of the 911 call reveals that an “unconscious individual” was found at St. John’s home and that officials used the term “natural causes” in reference to the possible cause of death, indicating no foul play was suspected. TMZ further stated that a source informed them that alcohol might have been a factor.
Since the initial report of St. John’s passing came to light, TMZ is additionally reporting that a source says that St. John had checked into UCLA Medical Center in January for treatment over depression issues linked to the loss of his son, Julian, who died in November 2014 from an apparent suicide.
In a since-deleted post on social media, St. John’s ex-wife, Mia, posted, “THAT HOSPITAL KILLED OUR SON @TheArtofJulian THEN MY HUSBAND @kristoffstjohn1. THATS WHAT HAPPENED! THEY KILLED MY FAMILY.”
St. John’s final post on social media was on January 21, when he said, “Never a truer word was spoke. Thanks for posting this.” The comment was in response to a poster that said, “Grieving the loss of a child is a process. It begins on the day your child passes, and ends the day the parent joins them.”
