After weeks of teasing, Steve Burton is officially back filming at ABC’s “General Hospital,” the show announced today on its social media pages.

“You guys aren’t even ready for what’s to come,” read a message on the show’s Twitter page that included a picture of Burton outside the Prospect Studios set of the daytime drama series. An Instagram posting shared the same image, and confirmed Burton’s return to work. “Back to work!” read the post.

During the wee hours of this morning, Burton had fans wondering what time zone he was in considering how chipper he appeared in answering fan questions on Twitter, one of which included his alluding to returning to work today. “Huh? Sooooon or tomorrow,” responded Burton to a fan who had asked, “When can we expect you back on #GH?” Turns out it was sooner than we thought.

While we still don’t know if Burton is returning to “GH” to reprise his Daytime Emmy Award winning role as Jason Morgan, or a brand new character altogether, we do know that with the show’s creative filming, the actor could easily appear in episodes airing in the days or weeks ahead — traditionally, we’d have expected him to first hit the screen in mid-September.

Since departing “GH” in 2012, Burton joined the cast of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” in the contract role of Dylan McAvoy. He won his second Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal. He departed “Y&R” earlier this year.
