After picking up the exclusive streaming rights to all-new episodes of “The Mindy Project” in May, following FOX’s decision to pull the plug on the series, Hulu announced today during its portion of the summer Television Critics Association Press Tour that the fourth season of the very young-skewing comedy will kick off on Tuesday, September 15 and each of the 26-episodes ordered will air once a week, like it did on broadcast.

“Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I like the idea of the Christmas episode airing in December,” said series star and creator Mindy Kaling, who also revealed the show will pick right up where it left off: After deciding Mindy and the baby are his future, Danny Castellano (Chris Messina) flew to India to tell Mindy’s parents he’s in love with her and he wants their blessing to explore their relationship.

Outside of the outcome of the baby situation and Mindy’s parents, what else can viewers expect when the show returns? Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt guest stars in an episode in which Mindy “explores what would have happened had she never met Danny.” Levitt will play a “Real Housewives” style reality-TV producer. Meanwhile, Freida Pinto will play Mindy’s doppelganger in an episode, and actor Garret Dillahunt is set to replace Mindy at the clinic while she’s on maternity leave. Dillahunt will become a series regular.
