The marquees of Broadway theaters in New York City went dark for one minute on Friday, July 18th in memory of actress Elaine Stritch (ex-Wilma Bern, “One Life to Live”), who passed away due to natural causes at the age of 89.

The actress, who died on Thursday, July 17, was known best for her seven-decade Broadway career that earned her five Tony nominations, as well as a television career that earned her eight Emmy nominations. Daytime fans might remember her from “OLTL,” where she played  the mother of twins Mortimer Bern and Carlos Hesser’s (Thom Christopher).

CNN reports that Stritch will be buried in Chicago next to her husband, John Bay, sometime this week.
