Do you have a New Years resolution?
“Things have calmed down a little bit, so mine this year, as is probably most people’s standard, is to return myself to peak physical condition and get back in shape. So much of my life was spent in peak physical condition, because you kind of have to be when you’re on a soap opera, but the last couple of years have just taken their toll, because I’ve been doing all of things, like taking care of my parents and kids and errands and things, and we’re getting it to run a bit smoother now, so perhaps I’ll have more time to focus on that aspect of my life. So yeah, shed some pounds and get in shape!”
What should Paul set as a New Year’s resolution?
“I think he made a couple of missteps this year as chief [of police]. He blames himself a little bit for closing the case on Carmine Basco [Marco Dapper] so quickly after Michael [Christian LeBlanc] confessed, and he may have lost some needed evidence. So I think he’s going to be a bit more prudent in the politics of being police chief than he has been in the past, because as a PI, you can kind of work around the law and outside the law, and [you can have] hunches and judgment that you’re able to use without validation. But as police chief, there are less freedoms in that. He needs certainty, and he needs to have proof that cases went down as he said they did. You can make assumptions as a private investigator that you cannot make as a police officer. So I think to be more aware of the politics of the office would be his resolution.”
