Longtime actress Maxine Stuart (Mary Anderson, “The Young and the Restless,” Grace O’Keefe, “Edge of Night,” Mrs. Dawson, “General Hospital”) died of natural causes in her Beverly Hills home on Thursday, June 6, reports her daughter, Chris Ann Maxwell.

The New Jersey native, who began her career on the stage in New York before becoming successful in the TV arena, is also known for her roles on “The Twilight Zone,” “Perry Mason,” “Room For One More,” “The Eleventh Hour,” “Peyton Place,” “The Partridge Family,” “Executive Suite” “The Rousters,” “Hearts Afire,” “Chicago Hope,” and many more.

She joined “Y&R” in 1993 after the show’s co-creator, William J. Bell, saw her play an intern on “Murphy Brown.”

“She epitomized what I wanted,” Bell told The Los Angeles Times of why he cast her as Mary. “Someone who brought a feistiness, a vitality and energy with her, who’s gregarious and fun-loving.”

Stuart was 94 when she died.
