(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Former “All My Children” star Eden Riegel lands role on “The Young and the Restless.”

Soaps In Depth has confirmed the news that Daytime Confidential has been having a particularly difficult time not officially spilling on the morning of Thursday, March 4, Eden Riegel has landed a role on the number one soap in the nation, “The Young and the Restless.” Riegel will replace Vail Bloom as assistant district attorney Heather Stevens on the CBS sudser.

Bloom has played the role of Heather since July of 2007 and earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for her portrayal in 2008. Riegel is of course famous for the role of Bianca Montgomery on ABC’s All My Children.” Riegel played daytime’s premiere lesbian, and daughter of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), from July 2000 to February 2005. The Emmy-winning actress has returned to Pine Valley for return engagements lasting anywhere from an episode to six months on numerous occasions since. She last appeared on the soap on January 5, 2010 for the soaps 40th Anniversary episode. The actress has also been enjoying success on “Imaginary Bitches,” a web series created by her husband, Andrew Miller.

“Y&R” has quite a history of snatching up former “AMC” stars. One of the CBS soaps biggest stars, Peter Bergman, had played Pine Valley’s popular Cliff Warner for years before butting heads with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) as Jack Abbott. In recent years, “Y&R” has also picked up Amelia Heinle (from Mia to Victoria), Elizabeth Hendrickson (from Maggie to Chloe) who played the other half of Riegel’s most popular pairing on “AMC,” Billy Miller (from Richie to Billy), Stacy Haiduk (from Hannah to Patty), Vincent Irizarry (from Hayward to Chow back to Hayward), and now Riegel is added to the list.

There is no news currently out on the reason behind the abrupt recasting. Soap Opera Network will keep you updated as the story develops.

“All My Children” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings. “AMC” now also airs online at ABC.com and can be accessed 24/7.
