Ian Somerhalder has signed a talent holding/development deal with ABC and Touchstone Television Productions, producers of “Lost,” “Alias” and “Desperate Housewives.”

The news comes on the heels of last night’s high stakes episode of “Lost” wherein Somerhalder’s character, Boone, was killed off.

The one-year pact calls for ABC and Touchstone to develop a new series starring the actor or place him in a current Touchstone production. Meanwhile, the actor has also signed on to star in the independent feature film, “The Breed.”

Before joining the cast of “Lost,” Somerhalder was best known for his roles in dramas “Young Americans” and “Smallville,” both airing on The WB.
